We are incredibly proud and excited to welcome a soul legend and 2001 inductee into the rock & roll hall of fame to the Chinwag sofa for a chat about life and whatever else come up!
Where to start to describe Tommy’s incredible story? Born in 1932 in Pittsburgh, Tommy was a member of doo-wop stars The Flamingos scoring a massive hit in 1959 with ‘I Only Have Eyes for You’. He made the first recording of Bacharach and David’s ‘I Just Don’t Know What To Do With Myself’ (later immortalised by Dusty Springfield), was a regular at The Apollo Theatre in Harlem and Wigan Casino, a legend on the Northern Soul circuit, toured with Elvis and marched with Martin Luther King jr at Selma! There’s little doubt that we are in for an incredible evening of tales from a man who counts Smokey Robinson and Little Richard as his friends.
Join us for an evening of chat and insights in support of MAP, a Leeds based charity who run music and art programmes for young people at risk of exclusion from mainstream education: http://musicandartsproduction.org/
Ticket will sell out fast for this event so be quick. We also now have the option to give a little more when buying tickets and as always all the proceed go directly to charity MAP.
See you down the front x
